Today marks a week that I have been in Puertollano and I must say, I feel very comfortable here. I have explored a lot, and though there are still times I find myself turned around in all the intertwining c
alles (streets), I feel like I can navigate myself pretty well for the most part!
Here are some pictures I took while walking to my school. It's a pretty good trek....takes about 25 minutes and it's uphill for the most part. It's good though....the walk wakes me up in the morning! And it's cool to people watch along the way. There's this cute bulldog that wears a jersey-looking hoodie that I pass everyone as he's being taken for a walk. Also I love seeing the cute, old Spanish men that get all dressed up to walk with their other old man friends in the morning. Like I"m talking they put on a tie, a cute little sweater vest, a nice jacket and coat, just to walk through the streets with friends. They are so cute and dapper, I love it.

Picture from outside the intense gate that goes around the whole school. I think it's pretty standard to have this gate around the public schools. It's seems to be in a pretty upscale neighborhood and I feel safe walking there (don't worry, Mom! :) ) |

This made me laugh---it's like a make-shift eliptical machine that's in the middle of this nice little park/walkway by my school. Notice the bench next to it for spectators to sit and watch someone get their cardio on.
So these pictures were mainly just along the way to the school, which is out away from the "city" part of Puertollano. I'll be super tourist sometime this week and take pictures of the busier streets so you can see...There are so many people walking around all the time and every type of store you could possibly need! |
It's funny to see pictures of palm tress while snow is falling here at about 2 inches per hour:)

Hi everyone!!
ReplyDeleteAM---Today I had my second day with students. They were so great! I think I'm really going to like the job. And the staff is very welcoming!
Zach---you don't need a job in a school. Along with my roommates, all my girl students today saw your picture that I was sharing and they all think you're guapo. I'm sure you would make a good living just on private English lessons ;)
Kate---OMG 25 miles!! haha thank GOD, I wouldn't last!! haha. And yes it seems as if everyone else has caught on to the whole...exercise...thing. haha
Dr. Petriccione---so great to hear from you! I hope you're having a good start to 2011. Feliz ano!
