Last Day at Galileo Galilei High School :(

With this grant given to me by the Spanish government, my last day in the contract was May 31.  But technically, my last day was last Thursday because yesterday was a holiday---Castilla La Mancha Day, and I don't work on Mondays or Fridays (it was such a glorious schedule---Mondays and Fridays off, work til 1:30 Tues-Thurs.)

So here are some pictures from the last day with my students.  I have many more classes, but these were my favorites :)

This class below was extra special because they threw me a surprise last day party.  It was my last class at the school and I was completely surprised.  They worked so hard preparing everything, they were so proud.  It meant so much to me, I'll never forget it!!

As soon as I walked in, they yelled surprised and were cheering, and then they dragged me over to the desk where there was a line of gifts.  They were so proud of them, I didn't even have a chance to process anything, they were like OPEN OPEN OPEN :)

They know how I love wearing scarves...

This was SO special.  They gave me this silver bracelet that is engraved with my name on one side, and then the picture below shows that on the other side, it says 4A (their class section) and Spain.  They said they wanted me to remember their class particularly and never forget them.  So special.  I absolutely love it.

In the picture below, you also see another beaded bracelet that was made by another student from a different class. The beads say RACHEL WE WILL MISS YOU.  So precious.

Of course the dancing got crazy.  Haha some of their typical line dance songs are so funny....

Though not all the girls are doing it, someone yelled FUNNY PICTURE for this one :)

In the picture below with my buddy Javi, you can see the pretty silver turtle charm that this class also gave me.  So cute.  They were so sweet and so proud giving me all the gifts.

This is Melanie.. you can see in the picture that I'm wearing a little pink felt pin that she made for me.  She stiched it all, even the Spanish flag on the front of it.  She said it is so Spain will always been in my heart because I will always be in theirs....how cute?!?  I was def tearing up.

Only in Spain would the students jump on the desks and start dancing!  I was there like kinda freakin out because I'm so used to keeping my classes in order since schools in the US are so different in regards to rules and strictness.  But they kept insisting that it was ok because it is "typical Spanish" to have parties like that.  Haha what is so funny is that they are right.  The music was BLARING and nobody in the school complained at all.

Aaaaand one of my favorites, Juan Carlos, getting creative with balloons from the party.  Pit stains and all :)

Great last day....going to miss everyone for sure. I will see the majority of my students from a different level (the students from these pictures are in a lower level) later this month when I go on a school trip to Prague and Budapest with them.  The director and other teachers going invited me to go and I'm really excited!
