Quick stop in Zaragoza

Last weekend I planned to visit my friend Merce in Barcelona, so I figured on my way up north, I would stop and see the city Zaragoza (correctly pronounced "THaragoTHa").  It is in between Madrid and Barcelona in the region of Aragon.  It was a quick trip---I was there Thursday night and left on a train for Barcelona at 11:30 the next morning.  It would have been nice to have a little more time, but it was fun exploring the city center!  What I saw was beautiful!

View of the beautiful Basilica de Pilar from Pilar Plaza

Cool map fountain in the square.

Lion statues?  Sure, why not?

I forget the name of this cool art museum...as you can see, it's really unique---trapezoid-shaped and metallic.

Cathedral

There are ancient Roman ruins of a theater in the centro of Zaragoza.

Easter weekend in Madrid: Art, tapas, flamenco, and picnic in the parque :)

Madrid, Easter weekend 2011
Last stop of the traveling before Cliff flew back to the US

This was a cool little cafe in La Latina, a barrio (neighborhood) of Madrid.

Madrid has a lot of cool artwork all over the city...

Sweet purses made out of records.  Saw these in a little shop on the way to El Rastro, the big flea market held every Sunday morning in La Latina.

The Palacio de cristal  in the Parque de Buen Retiro.

Made a friend with one of the workers at Arco de Cuchillero, where we saw a sweet live flamenco show.

Picture on the flamenco stage (taken by my old man friend lol)

La gente tapeando y bebiendo vino en el mercado de San Miguel. People eating tapas and drinking wine in San Miguel market.

Picnic in the parque!  :)
